With Singapore’s Phase 2 heightened alert status, we can’t dine out, so YumzYumz tried out a healthy meal of brown rice and non oily stuff from Yeongyang Bowl. Let’s break it down and see what we got.

Huchu-Power Sogogi, or black pepper beef bowl, consists of a generous portion of stir fried black pepper beef, which was slightly tough to chew and lightly seasoned. On the sides we had some standard baked beans, kimchi beansprouts, (Korean Spicy Bean Sprouts), bunch of blanched bland broccoli, cupful of buttery corn, some seaweed strips, a soy-marinated ramen egg, some white & black sesame seeds and brown rice.

The melted butter from the corn was fragrant and mixed nicely with the almost tasteless brown rice (we ain’t big fans of brown rice). Mixing together with the seaweed strips, sesame seeds, kimchi, black pepper beef, it was essentially one huge confusing mix of healthy cai fan. Gooey yolk from the marinated egg did help elevate the experience with another layer of flavour.

At $12 a bowl, not factoring delivery charge, it has quantity which easily fills 2 pax if you ain’t that hungry. But if you are looking for healthy meals at home during this partial lockdown phase 2 heightened alert, this is a good choice to have.
