Trapped in a Time Capsule
We ventured down Whitchurch Road to explore Colbar, a café seemingly frozen in time. With its vintage décor, ancient TV sets as art, and a cash register MIA, it promised a journey back in time. Little did we know, our taste buds were about to embark on a less-than-nostalgic adventure.
The Main Event: Deep Fried Whole Sole & Chips
The menu boasted a promising dish – Deep Fried Whole Sole & Chips, priced at a whopping $18. With expectations as high as the price tag, we eagerly awaited our piscatorial delight.
The Letdown: A Fish Tale Gone Wrong
Our plate arrived, and alas, disappointment awaited. The sole fish resembled a relic from the Jurassic era, devoid of any sauce to resurrect its dry existence. The aroma of buttery goodness teased, but the reality was a fish that seemed to have met its demise not once, but twice. Flaky flesh? Yes. Enough of it? Not even close. The so-called “chips” were more like humble potato chunks – simplicity at its finest.
The Verdict: A Pricey Plunge
At $18, we expected a piscine masterpiece, but what we got was a fishy fiasco. Quantity? Laughable. Quality? Drowned in buttery illusion. Colbar, we love the vintage charm, but your deep-fried delight left us reeling for the wrong reasons.
