Part of 3 items from Mak Cho’s Kitchen, YumzYumz dive into their Nasi Ulam or Mixed Herb Rice and find out how it faired on our taste buds.

Upon opening its lid, a burst of aromatic fragrance filled the air around us. Well, that was alittle exaggerated, but it indeed emitted a scent of freshness. As Nasi Ulam are generally made with each cook’s own array of ingredients, we can only guess what was used with our limited taste palate.

For one, this was definitely not for fussy eater or haters of chow chow veggies, or celeries, for it contains an enormous amount of similar veggies. Large slices of chilli helped with garnishing touches, as well adding a needed heat to the freshness from the greens. We tasted basil or lime basil, kaffir lime leaves, cilantro or celery perhaps.

Note that we could only guess as it was an absolute mingle of flavour and texture with fluffy short grain rice. One thing for sure was the definite grated coconut that nasi ulam needs and it definitely gave it an elevated flavour boost.

Along if the other 2 items, Nyonya Chap Chye and Ayam + Babi Buah Keluak, it was definitely a complete meal.

Worth noting was adding the smokey nutty rich creamy buah keluak into it to increase the nasi ulam’s flavour to the next level.

Was it worth $60 for all 3 items? Definitely! Great for a family meal with these awesome home cooked dishes.
