We were looking for some unhealthy microwavable quick meals and chose this supposedly healthy item. Foodfare’s Chef’s finest rendang chicken with vegetables and turmeric rice.

After removing it’s sleeve, the food were revealed to be tightly sealed with its film and took quite alittle effort to peel them off.

We proceeded to microwave it for about 7 minutes at maximum, and it was done!

Out came a strong fragrance from the rendang chicken, piping hot with the rice and vegetables.

Rendang chicken was subtly seasoned, slightly salted but creamy. Chicken bits were tiny and pitifully portioned and slightly tough. Vegetables were surprisingly crunchy and tasty. It should be the main attraction rather than the rendang dish, and name it appropriately as cabbage rice instead.

Rice was soft, mushy and for a frozen item, it was surprisingly alright with slight turmeric taste, and stated on its packaging was “brown rice (30%)”.

At $4.90, the paltry portion of chicken could be understood, and for what it was intended, which is a healthy meal at affordable price, it definitely met its intention. So as blend or meh as it may taste for those with heavier palates, it is worth trying for those trying to go for healthier meals.
