Grilled breakfast, American breakfast, English breakfast, or whatever you call it, we tried out Canopy Bishan’s grilled breakfast and here is our food review of it. (this was before Singapore’s second lockdown, or Phase 2 Heightened Alert, or whatever the government is calling it….)
Plated invitingly on a huge plate, every item was placed neatly and looked simply yet tasty.
First off was the bacon, chewy and salty, slightly crispy and charred. Next were the sourdough toast, fluffy and subtle sweetness, tasted fresh and homely, and with some butter spread, it tasted really lovely.
Scrambled eggs were soft and creamy, mushrooms were meaty and smokey, nicely seasoned and sauteed. Garlic sausage was mundane, salty, meh. Roasted tomato was juicy lightly seasoned and amazingly refreshing.
On their menu, it was stated as having edamame beans, baby carrots within. However, no where were these included, but probably replaced by some lightly seasoned and sauteed potato chunks, which were quite alright.
Finally, the best part of this dish was actually the greens, or the mesclun. Fresh and crunchy, the vinaigrette dressing was sourish, slightly sweet and amazingly delightful.
At $20 for a plate of grilled breakfast or brunch at bishan park, it is indeed slightly expensive for what was offered, but still filling to the tummy.
