Spotting huge chinese characters as their stall name with no english words, He Zuo Yun Tun Mian spots a retro stall front with little to no presence of modern design. Plating was simple, scattered char siew on top of noodles that looked really well seasoned. Some blanched vegetables on the sides and a bowl of soup with 4 wantons.
Firstly, the noodles were simple perfectly nicely blanched mee kia and nicely concocted sauce consisting of the usual oyster dark soy and whatever not. We shall not guess what they had in it as we always do not, but it sure as hell tasted delightful.
Next was their char siew. On first sight, we were definitely disappointed as they looked so damn pale! But on tasting, it was a whole different dimension. It was tender, moist, and tasted light and sweet. Such a deceiving appearance with such delightful flavour!
Finally, the 4 wantons floating in the standard mundane soup. Each wanton dumplings were plump, chewy, tasty and exceptionally delicious! Fantastic wantons!
At $3 a plate for gorgeously inviting and yummilicious wanton noodles and wanton dumplings, it is no wonder why they are able to command a snakey queue cutting right through the hawker centre.
