Nissin instant ramen is available in Shoyu flavor, with five packs costing only $3.85. Like most instant noodle flavors, be careful with the powdered seasoning as it can be overpowering if you use too much. The taste is typical of Shoyu ramen soup. The noodles have a chewy texture (depending on how long you cook them), but they are not the same quality as those you’d find in a ramen shop. Nevertheless, they’re still decent.

For those who aren’t familiar with it, Shoyu is a type of Japanese-style soy sauce that can be either light (usukuchi) or dark (koikuchi).

The mini dehydrated fish cakes in this ramen, called ‘Narutomaki’鳴門巻 or ‘Naruto’ for short, add a nice touch. Narutomaki is a classic topping for ramen made of fish cake (known as kamaboko in Japanese). Remember to use the sodium pack sparingly.

This instant ramen can be cooked in just four minutes, making it perfect for anyone who enjoys instant noodles or ramen. It’s yummy!
