Looking for what to eat in Ang Mo Kio, we got ourselves a simple order of char siew rice with roasted chicken for this round of chicken rice food review.

Char siew pieces were fatty and lean, a good ratio combination, with the fats roasted to a melt in your mouth consistency. We loved the gravy that drizzled onto the charred and caramelized parts, which elevated its taste and flavour. Coupled with the tenderlicious roasted chicken, which was soft and juicy even for their breast meat. Skin was crisp and tasted lovely with their briny sauce. Rice was fragrant and not greasy, and somewhat addictive together with the char siew gravy and chicken sauce. Chili was mundane, runny and spicy, complimenting the rice and chicken perfectly.

Worth noting was the free tasty peanut and pork soup that they provide if you dine in. It was full of peanuts and bits of pork, exquisitely deep and rich in flavour.

For $4.80 for a generously given plate of chicken and char siew rice along with a free hearty peanut soup, Hooi Kee Hong Kong Style Roasted is a stall we will definitely return for more.
