The highlight of Ang Mo Kio central hawker centre, Xi Xiang Feng yong tau foo is one you should queue for. Crunchy deep fried items, deep flavourful soup. What is there not to like?
Many noobs will tend to queue once they get to the stall, which is not the procedure. You need to pick your items from their over 40+ selections, hand it over to the stall, tell them what you want : soup? dry? with kangkong bean sprouts? laksa based? noodles? chee cheong fan? bee hoon? rice? LOL
The combinations are endless. That’s the beauty of it as you get to customize your meal the way you like it to be. Healthy or straight up oil based.
Their soup is full of flavour, based with anchovies and soy beans, and probably no MSG added, you won’t feel the after thirst.
For a rough guide, each piece of yong tau foo is 30 cents upwards. Adding of more bee hoon/noodles cost 50 cents.
If you like the extra calories, add in the laksa soup based instead of the healthier soup for 70 cents more.
Their yong tau foo sauce was intense and flavourful. Unlike other stalls, theirs has the slight burnt umami taste. Really goes well with all the deep fried stuff.
Doesn’t looking at the images makes you want to go get it?
