YumzYumz tried the fried white carrot cakes from Fu Xiang at Clementi 448 Market & Food Centre, and this is our food review of it.

We were given three palm sized pieces of nicely fried “cake”. The amount of eggs was generous and fried to a golden crisp. The amount of cai por (pickled radish) added was fairly decent, although no one will complain if they were given a little slightly more ^^.

The kuehs were springy and chewy, where nicely compliments the crispy exterior. Each bit was nicely held firmly due to the fried eggs.

However, a nicely fried carrot cake as it all may sound, the star to us was definitely their sambal chili, hands down. It tasted with a strong aftertaste wok hey, pleasant savoury umami taste.

At $3 a plate, it was definitely a nice dish to have, main or side. And with their special chili sauce, do consider giving Fu Xiang’s carrot cake a go when you are in the vicinity.
