Although Thiam Kee at Changi Village Hawker Centre specializes in chicken rice as its name states, YumzYumz tried their wanton noodles and here is our food review on it.
Firstly, their noodles are chewy, as what any wanton noodles with the usual mee kia will taste like. The sauce mix was heavy in oyster sauce and pork fat. In a way, we could say it is the “traditional” way, or what everyone are used to in Singapore, or we could say it was done in the right way.
Next up would be their char siew slices, which were fairly chunky but tender and with proportionately right amount of fats and meat. We got three pieces of plump wantons that were marinated really nicely and with subtle pepperish taste.
At $3 a plate, the amount of ingredients and portion was generous, affordable for wanton noodles, and it was gobbled down swiftly.
