Nice chewy noodles at Hock Kee Wanton Noodles at Ang Mo Kio, opens at 5.30am in the morning, and ends in the afternoon. And the queue starts really quickly, and ceases only close to their closing timing. What did YumzYumz thought of their wanton noodles?
Their noodles were nicely blanched, little to none lye taste, springy and holds the delicately concocted sauce well.
The char siew was not their best item on their wanton noodles, as the char siew slices were slightly tough and dry.
Their deep fried pork lard was fluffy and crunchy, adding depth and texture to the noodles. Additionally, the lard gives so much flavour to the already tasty sauce.
The star item of their wanton noodles, is what it should be, the wantons. The Hock Kee wantons were plump peppery, savoury, and packed with flavour.
Above all, the stall owners were really polite and friendly with everyone in queue. Just made our day brighter with nice people offering nice food.
For $3, we got 2 fully packed wantons, and a plate of gorgeously created noodles. Just remember to cater at least 15 minutes to queue up.
