Located within the dingy Geylang East Market, we noticed most tables were having this green plates of nicely plated wanton noodles. We tracked it down to Guan Kee Wanton Noodle and gave it a try for this food review.
Springy mee kia noodles that held the minimal sauce mix, with aromatic pork lard and chili sauce. Char siew slices looked dry and tough, but in fact were tender, sweet and savoury. Fried pork lard bits were scattered around for the extra crunch which were delightfully pleasant. Wantons were plump and pepperish, complimenting the noodles.
Simple and traditionally made wanton noodles at $4, with generous amount of char siew and wantons, Guan Kee Wanton Noodle is one that we would get even on a daily basis.
