What to eat at Raffles Place? YumzYumz tried out Syohachi Wagyu Hamburg’s sandwich toast with beef, cheese and omelette. Let’s find out how the review goes.

Located right outside or Raffles Place MRT and within One Raffles Place Shopping Mall, there was a queue when we got there during lunch hour. But it was fairly quick till we got our order, greeted with their friendly staff.

Had we not added cheddar cheese ($1) and omelette ($1), as recommended by the staff, it would just be 1 slice of beef patty in between 2 slices of bread. Quite pathetic to be frank. In total, it cost $12.70.

2 slices of bread grilled nicely with Japanese butter as stated on their menu. Japanese butter or Singapore better, when it is grilled to this state, it doesn’t really matter. What mattered was, it was tremendous oily yet fragrant.

Wagyu beef was fairly thin, amply seasoned and tasted salty with deep beefy fragrance. However, with all the grease and sodium, its beefy quality was definitely drowned out.

As for the addons, egg omelette was creamy, well seasoned and generously given. Cheddar cheese married both beef and egg harmoniously, and added a layer of complexity to the whole sandwich.

It certainly had a pleasant sheen to it, but it can also be said to be absolutely oily and greasy.

On its menu, it stated that it is served with fresh mixed green salad, japanese pickles and crispy tater tots. But since they ran out of greens, we were given extra tater tots.

It could probably be compared similarly to Carls Sourdough sandwich, but tasted much better in terms of texture and flavour.

Smacked right in the middle of the CBD, Syohachi Wagyu Hamburg certainly offers a nice quick and delicious meal, but do watch out for the calories and sodium as it was definitely on the salty spectrum.
