Sure Come Back Wanton Mee, located on the second floor of Pasir Ris Central Hawker Centre, is a must-visit for wanton mee lovers. The inviting, brightly-lit signage and friendly service caught our attention, and we were excited to try their famous dish.
The presentation of the wanton mee was impressive, served in an elegant black bowl with a visually pleasing arrangement of ingredients. Along with the usual xiao bai cai or cai sim, the dish included crispy and vibrant hongkong kai lan, which was a delightful addition. The mee kia noodles were springy and satisfying, but it was the sauce that made it stand out. The unique, effusive flavour of their smoked char siew infused the sauce, which perfectly complemented the noodles. The char siew itself was tender, not overly sweet, and had a rich smoky flavour that lingered on the palate. The wantons were also delicious, with a satisfying crunch and savoury filling. A sprinkle of crispy fried pork lard added an extra layer of texture and flavour to the dish.
The staff at Sure Come Back Wanton Mee were friendly and helpful, and we appreciated the reasonable price tag of $3.50 for a generous serving of wanton mee.
In our opinion, Sure Come Back Wanton Mee stands head and shoulders above many other wanton mee stalls in Singapore. If you’re a fan of this classic hawker dish, you won’t be disappointed. We highly recommend paying a visit to Sure Come Back Wanton Mee.
