Steamboat or hotpot at Suki-ya, definitely cheaper than Haidilao, but service standard was definitely way far apart. Soup base was good and tasty. With the free flow of meat, we ain’t really picky on their service, but could be better.
Sukiya offers a few types of broth to suit your taste buds. We had Sukiyaki soup base, a Japanese favourite, combination of soy sauce, sugar & mirin.

The other was Tonyu Miso, a combination of soy milk with miso for a nutritious & delicious soup base.
Both soup bases were tasty, slightly on the sweet side for the sukiyaki soup, but still acceptable. The tonyu miso was just right and tasty.

Let’s continue with the review. We did not go for the premium meats and seafood addon. The addon is priced at $10.90++. So we had the basic four types of meat selection.
Thinly sliced chicken, pork, beef short plate and beef cube roll.
Frankly, the beef cube rolls were the only item worthy of stomach space usage. So pace yourself on the other stuff and focus on what’s more valuable. ^^
Except for this particular staff, the rest doesn’t seem really interested in what they were doing. Kudos to this particular staff who stepped up for the rest.
Surprisingly, this is the exact ice cream brand that Hai Di Lao is serving since reopening during COVID-19 period. Not exactly the same soft-served ice cream that they used to serve. ^^
Except for the types of meat, the other selections used at the buffet table. You will now have to order from the staff and they will bring it to you. Choice of selections are decent, but the main is still the soup base.
Worth it?
So was it worth it? It was, but it will be awesome if the staff were more responsive and attentive. At this kind of price range and item selection, you will expect slightly better customer service.
