What to eat at Eighteen Chefs? We tried out their striploin steak with fried rice and here is our food review of it.
Out came our order, served on their usual wooden platter, a serving of fried rice, steak and a saucer of “sauce”.
We got our striploin steak done at medium rare as we always do. Sadly if that was what they considered medium rare or even a steak. It was barely seasoned, tasteless, rubbery, with some charred portions. Parts in the middle were totally inedible, rubbery-liked texture. The outer parts were overcooked with lots of tendons that were unchewable.
Next was their “fried rice”, or rather cooked rice mixed with dark soysauce. If it doesn’t have any wok-hey or the slightest hint of it, you should never ever call it fried rice. NEVER.
Finally for their saucer of “sauce”, it tasted like ketchup, with some other condiments mixed in, as well as chopped up chili padi. What a confusing concoction which served no purpose with the other ridiculously bad fried rice and steak.
For the price of $17.80, Eighteen Chefs’ Striploin Fried Rice is something we strongly recommend NOT to order, to avoid what disappointment feeling we felt. At least their service was good and acceptable.
