What to eat at Timbre plus? How about some noodles in thick slushy gravy? We tried out Noodlefellas’s smoked duck lor mee for this food review as it sounded interesting and was their 1st item on their menu.
First off, smoked duck tasted fine, salty and tender, but slightly rubbery in texture. There were 5 thick slices and were quite generous in portion.
Chunks of beef or pork slices were thrown into the mix. We can’t tell whether they were pork or beef, as the taste was entirely covered by the thick gooey gravy and black vinegar. Gravy was thicker than any other lor mee we had, and darker in color. Consistency was somewhat clumpy, not what we are used to. Other stuff thrown into the mix was a halved braised egg, some sliced hgor hiang and a hump of crumbs which we had no idea what they were, except they looked crispy but in actual fact flat and stale. Worth noting that the gravy wasn’t piping hot, warm at most.
At $6.50, Noodlefellas’ smoked duck lor mee fell short of what we expected it to be, tasty and mindblowing. But at least it was huge in portion and filling.
