The Royal Line-Up: What’s in the King Set?

Galmaegisal: The Signature US Pork Skirt

First up, we have the Galmaegisal – 170 grams of their signature US pork skirt. This cut is a standout, known for its tender texture and rich flavour. As soon as it hit the grill, the aroma was irresistible. The meat was juicy and had just the right amount of fat to keep things tasty but not overwhelming.

Black Pork Seorae Samgyeobsal: Premium Chestnut Pork Belly

Next, we dove into the Black Pork Seorae Samgyeobsal. This 250-gram premium chestnut pork belly is a showstopper. The special Seorae cutting ensures that each bite is packed with flavour. Although it took a while to cook through due to its thickness, the wait was worth it. The pork belly was succulent and had a delightful crunch on the edges, a testament to the magic of charcoal grilling.

    Woosamgyeob: US Beef Shortplate

For beef lovers, the Woosamgyeob – 150 grams of US beef shortplate – is a dream come true. Thinly sliced and marbled to perfection, it cooked quickly and melted in our mouths. The beef was tender and perfectly complemented by the charcoal’s smokiness.

LA Galbi: US Prime Beef Bone-In Short Ribs

The star of the show was undoubtedly the LA Galbi. This 300-gram portion of US prime beef bone-in short ribs was marinated overnight, ensuring every bite was bursting with flavour. The meat was tender, juicy, and had that perfect char from the grill that we all crave.

Mix Kkochi Platter: Korean Street Food Skewers

Adding a touch of street food charm to the feast, the Mix Kkochi Platter featured a variety of charcoal-grilled skewers. These were not only visually appealing but also packed a punch in terms of taste. Each skewer was a flavour bomb, with the marinade seeping into the meat and creating a delightful bite each time.

    Hameul Pajeong: Traditional Korean Pancake

No Korean BBQ feast is complete without some traditional fare. The Hameul Pajeong, a seafood pancake with fresh spring onions, was a refreshing break from the meat. It was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and filled with succulent seafood bits that balanced the meal perfectly.

    Sundubu Jjigae: Spicy Tofu Stew

To round off the feast, we enjoyed the Sundubu Jjigae – a spicy tofu stew with clams, minced pork, and a bowl of rice. This all-time favourite was comforting and hearty, with just the right amount of spice to leave a pleasant tingle on our tongues.

    The Cheesy Finale

We couldn’t resist topping up $2 for a massive bowl of mozzarella cheese to add to the grill. The result? Gooey, melty cheese that we dipped our grilled meats into, creating a rich and indulgent experience. It was the cherry on top of an already fantastic meal.

    The Verdict: A Must-Try Experience

At $178 for the whole set, Seorae’s King Set is worth every penny. The variety and quality of meat, the delightful sides, and the overall experience are exceptional. The charcoal grill adds a unique flavour that’s hard to replicate, and the service is friendly and attentive, ensuring you have everything you need to enjoy your meal.

The only slight downside was the slower cooking time due to the charcoal base, especially for the thicker cuts like the chestnut pork belly. But honestly, the flavours and the experience more than made up for it.

So, if you find yourself at Plaza Singapura with a craving for some top-notch Korean BBQ, head over to Seorae Korean Charcoal BBQ. You won’t regret it!
