As usual, any long queue at any stall means it is famous, it taste great, it will be awesome. With reviews everywhere online that this stall is a must try, so we queued and we tried. It took about 15mins on a weekday at 11am.
Was it good? It sure was decent and at most mediocre. Was it worth queuing for 15minutes? Not really, for the attitude of the old lady (probably the boss) wasn’t really welcoming. The arrogance smeared all across her face was too much to stomach, let alone enjoy the meal.
Let’s break it down, if there were anything to be broken down….
The most important aspect of a satay beehoon has got to be its sauce. Let’s start from there.
The sauce was not overly salty, no texture, or rather smooth and you can’t feel the peanuts. It wasn’t blend or overpowering. We guess that is why it is popular.
There was ONE prawn for a $4 plate, Four pieces of cuttlefish, some stalks of kangkong and beansprouts, about 5 slices of pork.
They do not offer cockles with their satay beehoon, so do not start hunting for them in the plate.
With such mediocre food and “amazing attitude”, it begs one to wonder, what keeps the snakey queue going. Is it nostalgia? Or maybe because they are only open 4 days a week? Or it is their sauce that gets customers coming back? Each to their own opinions. But we stick to our deduction that it just ain’t worth the time queueing. It is decent food, but just ain’t worth the wait.
