While other stalls were getting long queues during the weekend dinner crowd, there wasn’t one at Shuang Bao. So we gave them a try and here is what we thought of their wanton mee.
Were the other stalls getting more customers because of reviews or habits, or just crowd following? Because what we got at Shuang Bao was definitely a much better meal than at this char kuay teow stall.
The noodles were chewy and not the usual mee kia, but slightly thicker, almost ramen like. The sauce was well mixed and gets into the noodles, giving every strand the added taste.
Char siew slices were given generously and sliced thinly, and really tender, sweet and savoury.
For $3.50, we got 2 plum wantons, which had a small little shrimp in each, along with peppery savoury minced pork.
The stall owner was really friendly and quick in his movements. Sadly, there weren’t any customers when we were there.
With the wanton noodles that we tried, we believe that what Shuang Bao offers is anywhere head and shoulders with any good wanton noodles out there. Please try them out when you are there ^^.
