Where to get satay bee hoon? What to eat at East Coast Lagoon Food Village? In this satay beehoon food review, we head down to try out Soon Huat Teochew Satay Beehoon.
顺发 Shun Fa Chao Zhou Satay Mi Fen Cuttlefish Kang Kong, located in the maze of stalls within East Coast Lagoon Food Village, had a rustic shop front. With a snakey queue, we waited patiently for our turn to order. The lady who was cooking and taking orders seemed to be extremely busy, but at the same time, showed courteous and friendly attitude. We got our order within 5minutes.
Secret to a yummy satay beehoon is definitely their gravy. And their gravy was exceptionally yummilicious! Thick and consistent, with subtly grainy texture of all the goodness they throw into this awesome concoction. It had a slight whiff of smokey fragrance which was pleasant and delightfully satisfying.
The amount of ingredients was great, with a wide variety compared to other satay beehoon stalls. It ranges from tender pork slices which some other stalls are usually tough, a healthy bunch of kang kong for the crunchy texture, huge pieces of tau pok, liver slices which was surprisingly present as most of the other stalls we had before did not have. There were chunky slices of cuttlefish, 3 small shelled prawns, and a spoonful of small crunchy bloody cockles.
Their delicious satay beehoon ranges at these prices of $5 , $6, $8, $10.
We got it at $5 and frankly, the amount and variety of goodies was amazing and satisfying. Soon Huat Teochew Satay Beehoon’s satay beehoon is definitely one that we would recommend. ^^
