Located deep within the Balestier and Whampoa area, Wheeler’s Yard is camouflaged among the other warehouse-liked buildings, with a space almost like an aircraft hanger. We chanced upon this lovely cafe that offers coffee and traditional pub offerings, retro-fitted with bicycle themed warehouse turned cafe. YumzYumz reviewed their sakura ebi pasta and here is our food review of it.
Al dente cooked spaghetti pasta, stirred within a luxuriously created mix of dried sakura shrimps, topped with bright orange ebiko, an onsen egg, some seaweed strips, cooked with garlic and finally some chopped spring onions for the extra fragrance and garnish.
The ebiko, or shrimp eggs, when mixed into the smooth and fragrant spaghetti, created bursts of delight in every bite. And with the dried sakura shrimps giving the crunchy crispy texture. Next was the onsen egg, gooey and creamy runny egg yolk, soothing the busy mixture of ingredients. Finally, seaweed strips added the extra savoury taste and welcoming crispiness.
At $16.90 for an order, Wheeler’s Yard’s Sakura Ebi Pasta is definitely an item with accetuating taste and flavour mixed together, which YumzYumz highly recommends.
