Had this premiumly priced pork cutlet at Hajime Tonkatsu & Ramen at Serangoon Garden’s myVillage. Terrible service, but lets find out if the food was good or not.
It came looking like any other deep fried cutlet, but the inside was amazing. Taste was intricately delicious, tender yet full of bite. The pork loin was amazingly well marinated with deep porky aroma. So flavourful. Along with it’s crust, it was simply delectable. It was oily no doubt, but not to the extent of oil dripping all over, but juicy.
They had this bowl with grooves and sesame seeds for us to grind it together with their tonkatsu sauce. Adding the resulting paste to the cutlet elevated it’s taste with smokey and distinct flavour and lingering after taste. So satisfying.
On the sides were some pickled greens, miso soup and a heap of shredded cabbage.
Was it worth $22.90? Well, in terms of quality, it is a definite yes, but definitely considered a once in awhile treat. Service and attitude could use a good clean up and improvements.
