Situated at the basement of Fusionopolis, Traditional Sarawak Kolo Mee specializes in, well, kolo mee. And being the 1st item on its meal we gave their Premium Kolo Mee a try and here is our food review of it.
For a start, Kolo Mee is a Sarawak Malaysian dish of dry noodles and mixed in pork lard sauce mix, and usually with strong fried shallot oil added.
There were tons of ingredients laid on top, and buried right at the bottm was their main specialized item, the noodles. It was chewy springy fluffy, really satisfying and easy to eat. The sauce base was thick and aromatic, with layers of flavour and dimensions.
Char siew pieces were dry, tough, but still tasty. Two shelled prawns with their heads and tails intact, tasted fresh and cooked just right. A single slice of abalone was perhaps the reason for the “premium” naming, and it ain’t anywhere better than the prawns or even fried dumpling, which was crispy and plump with tasty fillings. Lastly, lots of crispy fried pork lard were sprinkled on top to add the needed crunchy texture to every bite.
For $9.90 a set meal, which comes with a drink (not worth mentioning…) the noodles were indeed good, a variety of mundane ingredients added, and an amazing sauce mix, it was quite a filling meal at Traditional Sarawak Kolo Mee
