Located within Shunfu Mart, Huat Heng Fried Prawn Mee has a wicked pot of broth going on and this is YumzYumz food review of their prawn noodles. Read on to find out how we thought of it.
They have the soup or dry version, and we got the dry version so as to taste how their dry version was as well as taste their soup.
First off, they have this ton of fried shallots dumped at the top, which give so much of added flavour and texture to every bite. Noodles were blanched decently but portion was slightly underwhelming. The sauce mix was intense with a staple of their intense prawn broth as the base mix. There were 4 halved prawns which tasted pretty crunchy and somewhat fresh. The two pork slices were a let down as they were quite tough. The star element was the prawn broth, intense and extremely deep full bodied flavour. The broth was so thick and rich, we could find the chiili padi slice that we dropped it into the soup. In an expression probably fitting in a Chūka Ichiban’s context, it was like a thousand prawns swimming within our mouth, causing a prawnilious explosion.
At $3.50 a bowl, it was an immensely satisfying prawn noodles meal, particularly their prawn soup. Do consider having the soup based version as the dry version ain’t exactly exceptional, except for their tasty unforgettable soup.
