Where to find cheap and good nasi lemak in Singapore? At $2 a plate of Nasi Lemak, it is certainly worth every cent. Nestled within Toa Payoh West Market & Food Centre 2nd level, Hup Lee’s humble stall offers a satisfying and filling breakfast.

The rice is fragrant with not too underwhelming coconut taste, and not too grainy nor mushy. Just nice ^^. At $2, you can’t be expecting anything more than what they are offering. The fried chicken wings are crispy on the outside, JUICY on the inside.

The chili sauce is alittle on the downside. One of the most important aspect of nasi lemak is definitely the chili sauce. It needs to be sweet, savoury, and spicy.

Their chili sauce is more of commercial bottled chili sauce standard. No hints of ikan bilis within, no accompanying “kick” to it.

In a peanut shell, it certainly didn’t disappoint nor impressed us. It was simply a cheap and good way to start a day.
