What to eat at Ming Fa 明发 besides their fishball noodles? We tried out their miniwork noodles or xiao guo mian 小锅面 for this food review.
Quantity of noodles were definitely more than other similar stalls, springy and yummilicious. Sauce mix is on the dry side, not overtly greasy, topped with braised mushrooms and covered with sufficient aromatic park lard and crispy deep fried pork lard. Chili added was spicy, adding the needed shiokness.
We could just had the noodles and stayed perfectly satisfied. But came their bowl of hearty soul warming soup with tons of ingredients.
To start of the assault of items, there was a huge meatball, a huge signature fishball, both packing a nice bite, a gooey freshly cracked egg that added texture and dimension to the soup that was filled with tons of porky bits everywhere. Next were tender and perfectly made pork liver slices, not over cooked, as well as tenderlicious and marvelously marinated pork slices. To top it all off, a single crunchy shelled prawn.
Soup was amazingly sweet and savoury, good for any type of weather, or even time of the day.
Price ranges from $6.50 to $8, and we got the base of $6.50. Besides the quantity served being satisfying and filling, quality was great and enjoyable. Recommended!
