YumzYumz chanced upon this simplistic yet attractive shop at Vivo City and tried out two of their cheese cake flavours. Here is our cheese cake review of Cat & the Fiddle’s milo and durian flavours.
With a really nice packaging and easy to unwrap and eat from, it was a really nice touch and experience. First impression win liao. ^^
First up was their durian cheesecake. Naming it “King cat of the mountain”, it is stated to be mao shan wang durian. Each slice cost $7.90, and a whole cake to be $55.90. The top bits are actually sponge cakes, made to look like durian puree. So deceiving! The essence was actually the creamy cheesey part, infused with durian flavour. We ain’t sure whether mao shan wang or other species of durian, but it certainly had a deep durian flavour. The base was the usual crusty biscuit and gave the needed texture for any cheesecake.
Next was their milo dinosaur cheese cake. Each slice cost $6.90, and a whole cake cost $45.90. It’s middle portion was made with rich chocolate sponge cake, and the creamy cheesey part was a mixture of milo and cream cheese. It’s taste wasn’t overwhelming sweet and really suitable for anyone.
It was indicated on their menu that these two items were “Non-Baked” items, similar to others which were clearly marked, whether they fully baked, non baked or even half-baked.
In a nutshell, Cat & the Fiddle creations are really unique in their own niche, but quite frankly for it’s high price for a small slice, it is definitely an indulgence not many will be able to afford. Quality vs quantity, each to one’s preference, it was still a really nice treat.
