For a simple bowl of soup mee hoon kueh, the queue was exceptionally long when we were there. And from what we understand, this is a famous stall for homely mee hoon kueh in the heart of Hougang, Ci Yuan Hawker Centre. So how did we find it?
The soup was somewhat clear, with bits of pork and vegetables floating around. As clear it as it may seem, it was flavourful, but not over powering. It has the sweetness of marinated pork, vegetables, and absolutely from the deep fried savoury ikan bilis.
The delectable mee koon kueh was chewy and each bite makes you want to get another straight away. Marinated pork bits were tasty, with quite a fair bit of pepper added. Although a satisfying meal, it would be great if they had alittle more kuehs.
At $3, it was really a comforting healthy meal, and got us standing in queue for almost 15 minutes during weekday lunch time.
