Craving for some comfort food, my friend and I decided to try out Jiak Song Mee Hoon Kway, which is located at Hougang Street 21 in Singapore. As we entered the stall, we noticed a small crowd of people gathering around the front counter, eagerly awaiting their turn to place their orders. After a few minutes, we managed to get a table and placed our order for their signature Mee Hoon Kway with minced pork, pork slices, pork ball and shrimp ball.

    Variety of Noodles

One of the unique features of this stall is that they offer a variety of noodles, including mee hoon kway, ban mian, and you mian. Of course, we opted for the mee hoon kway as it’s in their stall name. The mee hoon kway had a smooth and chewy texture that complemented the broth well.

    Satisfying Broth

The broth of the soup version was mind-blowing with a deep flavor and a distinct smoky taste that had a lingering aftertaste. We couldn’t help but slurp every last bit of it. The soup also had a floating cloudy egg lovely mixture, which added a nice texture to the dish.

    Textured Toppings

The toppings were equally satisfying. The minced pork was subtly sweet and fluffy, and the pork ball was soft and full of texture. The prawn ball had the prawny taste and texture that we were looking for. The ikan bilis provided the needed crunch texture, making the dish more interesting to eat.

    Pricing and Service

The dish costs $5.50 per bowl, which we think is reasonable for the quality of food we had. However, the attitude and service were not the best, with confusing instructions that mixed up customer orders. The staff was not exactly polite, which could be improved.

    Conclusion

Despite the lack of customer service, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Jiak Song Mee Hoon Kway. The mee hoon kway was cooked to perfection, and the broth was savory and satisfying. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a delicious and filling bowl of noodles in Singapore.
