Where to find nice hokkien mee in the east? How about at East Coast Park? We tried out Geylang 29 Charcoal Fried Hokkien Mee’s hokkien mee with this food review.
Without a buzzer service, it was a challenge for us to order from multiple stalls, while wheezing back to them to check if our orders were ready. Do take note. But the guy taking orders was really friendly and helpful. ^^
Dry version of hokkien noodles, it was aromatic and irresistibly yummilicious! Not exactly charred, but the aroma was absolutely mesmerizing. We wonder how thick and potent the broth they used was, but we can imagine it to be awesome!
Noodles were gooey and clumpy, great for mouthfuls. Fried pork lard drove home the mind blowing fragrance and aftertaste. Full of garlicy and pork lard presence. There were 2 crunchy and fresh shelled prawns were added, along with slivers of squid for the needed texture.
Adding a squeeze of lime gave the noodles an extra layer of taste, and with their thick pasty fragrant chili, it was a heavenly match. Delicious!
Priced at $6, $10, $15, we got the $6 size, and portion was ample and filling, great to even be shared among 2 or even 3 pax.
With the price and quantity, Charcoal Fried Hokkien Mee’s noodles is definitely yummy, delicious and satisfying. Recommended!
