Fancy a nice gooey fried char kway teow? Wok hey filled noodles with cockles, deep fried pork lard, and chinese sausage? Well, you certainly won’t get that at Dong Ji Fried Kway Teow at old airport road hawker centre.
As usual, we always try to take nice photos of all our food adventures, regardless of whether it is yummy or not. In this case, we found it to be utterly underwhelming. At $3 a plate, we got a palm sized portion of char kway teow.
It was fragrant, mostly from the dark sweet sauce and eggs fried together with the kway teow noodles. There were no deep fried pork lard, no chinese sausage, no cockles. There were some vegetable leaves, some bean sprouts, and ONE god damn slice of fish cake. That was about it. The standard we found was bad, and disappointing.
