Where to find deep fried intestines? We tried out Quan Lai at MacPherson for their deep fried intestine in this food review.
Fried to a golden brown, these chunky deep fried intestines resembles fried fritters (you tiao), but its taste and texture was far from it. The inside were slightly gooey, compared to the crusty exterior, and they somewhat tough and required some jaw power to chew them down. Taste was strong and almost like a concentration of the whole pig intestine within each chunk. We would say it has an acquired taste and won’t be pleasant to some, but enjoyable to others. Dipping it into their pungent and spicy chili sauce was one way to cover the overwhelming taste and still had an enjoyable time.
We got the smallest sized order at $12, and the amount served was ample for us to sample and get a taste of it.
Pricing starts from $12, $18, $24, $30.
If you are a fan of deep fried intestine, loves strong and robust piggy spare parts taste, Quan Lai’s deep fried intestine is something you would love.
