Wondering what to eat at Seng Kang area? Any good wanton mee at Seng Kang? We headed down to one of our favourite stall, Huang Ji for their wanton noodles with Hongkong kailan for this food review.
Huang Ji or Huang Kee wanton noodles comprises of a thicker than usual mee kia, chewier with more bite to it. Their sauce was the central ingredient in making this vibrant dish pop. It was thick, subtly sweet and savoury, full-bodied and intricate. Coupled with their chunky char siew which were sweet and distinct, it was a match made in the heavenly kitchen. Rarely would you find other vegetables except for the usual cai xin. For Huang Ji, they have the crunchier and jucier Hongkong kailan, huge and pleasantly bitter to compliment the luscious and rich sauce. On the sides were 2 huge and crunchy deep fried wantons, full of fillings. Finally, floating in a deep and tasty soup were 2 plumper than usual wantons, bursting with generous fillings that will bound to make anyone’s day bright and cheery.
With long and snakey queues during lunch hours, they were still efficient and friendly to everyone, taking customized orders swiftly.
For $4.50 a bowl of wanton noodles, Huang Ji has definitely one of the best in the area that anyone can have even on a daily basis. Recommended!
