We were having Madas Nasi Lemak and can’t resist the stall next door. YumzYumz tried out Golden Carriage’s wanton mee and here is what we thought of it.

Noodles were on the tougher side and somewhat chewy. Sauce was heavy in their char siew sauce, sweet, smokey and runny. Noodles were almost swimming in the generous amount of sauce, with full bodied flavour from the added pork oil, sesame oil, and whatever sauce they added.

Fried pork lards were flat, with no bite but just fats… what a waste of calories….

Char siew was amazing good. Not too thin nor chunky, with good proportions of fats and lean parts. Sweet and tenderlicious, charred on the outside and soft on the inside.

Wantons were bite-sized, each with a small prawn within, which was pleasant and delightful. Nicely marinated pork and prawns married nicely to give each mouth a lovely texture and taste.

$3.50 for a plate of such diversity in terms of taste and texture was a delight. Although they could really improve on their noodles.
