What to eat in Hougang? Or any good fried kway teow in Hougang? If you are looking for good char kway teow around Hougang area, look no further than Hougang Oyster Omelette & Fried Kway Teow, one of the many famous dishes in Hougang.
Generous portion of noodles and kway teow, fried with loads of bean sprouts, greens, and fragrant egg mixture. There were nicely charred parts which gives the needed umami taste and wok hei fragrance. Wok hei was definitely infused deeply with every aspect of this dish, and with the fried egg fragrance, it is a recipe for an amazing meal.
Cockles were not overcooked, still fresh and crunchy. Lap cheong slices added another level of fatty fragrance and elevated the taste of the whole dish. Noodles were not too sweet either.
Overall, it was gooey, and emitting amazing fragrance, yet doesn’t taste overtly oily (don’t expect it to be healthy. It is after all char kway teow). $3.50 for small and $4 for large. Both elderly uncle and auntie were really friendly. Recommended!
