Braised pig trotters usually comes along with bak kut teh, and naturally, we had to try out Yong Ji’s pig trotters after getting their bak kut teh.
Eng Kee Bak Kut Teh or Yong Ji Bak Kut Teh, their pig trotters were huge and generous in portion, served on a huge plate together with bones in tact, as well as the lovely dark caramelized gravy.
Meat was tenderlicious, plenty of lean parts, as well as collagen filled fats under its smooth and tender skin. Gravy wasn’t overtly salty, intense richness and pairs harmoniously with the steamy rice.
It’s fatty parts were unctuous yet satisfying. In fact, one can’t be too health conscious when having pig trotters. ^^
Priced similar to their bak kut teh at $6.50 a plate and $0.50 for a bowl of rice, it can easily be shared between 2 pax. We highly recommend Yong Ji Bak Kut Teh’s pig trotters at Ang Mo Kio. ^^
