Recommended by friends, YumzYumz tried out this carrot cake stall in Ang Mo Kio, and here is our food review of it.

To get a better comparison, we tried out both their white and black carrot cake versions. Firstly, the white carrot cake version was a meshed up of eggs, kueh, and garlic. It was lacking in taste, no garlic fragrance, and we had to eat it like rice, for it was totally impossible to grab any substantial piece with chopsticks. Not really good….

Next up was the black carrot cake version. Similar to the white carrot cake version, it was a meshed up mess of kuehs and eggs, the only difference was sweet soy sauce being added for coloring and sweetness. No doubt it was sweeter than the white version, it still lacked the garlic fragrance that carrot cakes usually emits.

They may have put in extra effort in creating their own kuehs instead of factory made, but seems like the way the carrot cakes were fried and sauce added, needs more attention to.

The white carrot cake cost $3, while the black carrot cake cost $3.50. So in a sense, the sweet soy sauce cost 50 cents to be added, and fried the same way the white carrot cake was done.
