Besides the usual noodles or western food at ABC Brickworks hawker centre, we tried out a recommended stall of Bao Zai for their dim sum, especially their handmade big bao for this food review.

Handmade bao is indeed different. Its skin was absolutely fluffy with layers folded in. Its interior filling was juicy but not overtly greasy, with chewy marinated pork. Its meat filling had a harmonious combination of fat and lean meat, paired with a tiny wedge of hard boiled egg. Its juice married nicely with the fluffy skin for the soggy texture.

However for a big bao, its size was underwhelmingly small, and comes at $1.60 per piece.

Quality was great but quantity was begging for much more for Bao Zai’s big bao.
