Fancy an atas style nasi padang at a fancy hotel? YumzYumz tried out Shangri-La’s beef rendang at The Lobby Lounge. Lets find out more.
Beef rendang was absolutely tenderlicious, deep with coconuty taste and mild spiciness. Quantity was generous, without much fatty parts, although it was on the higher spectrum of saltiness.
The brown rice was springy and fluffy in every grain, marrying nicely with the heavily seasoned beef rendang.
Egg plants were gooey and infused with delightful seasoning, topped with some chopped red chilies. On the sides we had a handful of emping crackers, slightly flat but still had the belinjo aroma.
Worth nothing was the green chili condiment on the side, which had tomato slices added in, with all its goodness infused into the thick oil. It went harmoniously well with the other parts of this dish.
As this was within Shangri-La hotel, we would expect it to be anything less than its high price of $26. It was definitely way expensive, but hey, it was delicious and great for an experience.
