Steamed rice cakes (kueh) were so soft and moist, and the fried pickled radish (cai poh) were crunchy and given generously. A huge pile was literally slapped onto the rice cakes. Shiok!
Bedok Chwee Kueh is so famous, they have branches almost everywhere. And in case you didn’t know, Chwee kuehs have a slight depression in the center of the cake after it’s steamed. That’s how chwee kuehs should be. In fact, it is the water in the depression that gives chwee kueh its name, “water cake”. ^^
